Our Mission and Philosophy
Gosnold’s mission is to excel in all aspects of addiction
and mental health treatment, to serve men and women
affected by these illnesses and to promote lasting recovery.
- Total abstinence from mind altering drugs is necessary
for lasting recovery except in instances when medical
necessity dictates the use of such drugs.
- Treatment should be by competent, qualified staff
in settings that are safe, healthy and accessible
to patients and their families.
- Addiction affects the family and it is recommended
that family members be involved in education, self
help programs and other therapeutic activities. When
friends, family and others learn about addiction and
participate in the treatment, recovery and healing
are enhanced.
- Gosnold treats addiction as a chronic disease that
requires life-long management, and is often complicated
by other medical, emotional and situational conditions.
We believe that complications are improved by abstinence
from other substances, thus we emphasize the need
to get clean and sober as a priority.
